May 26, 2004 Another long and exciting weekend! We spent all weekend making A Hero in Bloom: The Story of Captain Carnation for the 48 Hour Film Project. It's the same competition we did last year - you have to write, shoot, edit, and score a film in two days. It's a lot of fun, and this year Shawn came down to help shoot and co-direct it. Thanks to everybody who helped out - it was awesome!
May 4, 2004 What a huge weekend for Rational Spirit activities! Let's start with the biggie: Nate and Melanie got married this weekend! It was a beautiful setting near the beach on St. Simon's Island. Nate's father led the ceremony, and afterwards everyone sat down and had barbecue. Simple, beautiful, and perfect for Nate and Melanie. We all wish them the best for their marriage and upcoming move to the Brunswick area! Tough act to follow, but The Greatness came all the way from Canada to film some reshoots and to attend the wedding. We tore through the reshoots on Thursday night and they came back in excellent shape on Friday. The Greatness is now officially finished with filming. Bryan is finished as well. And to top that, he came in and schooled 80% of his ADR on Monday night, making my job that much easier.
April 8, 2004 Shawn (D.P.) and Dana (Publicity) came into town today with Chloe, their year old daughter. We gathered up a bunch of the crew and watched the rough cut. There was much laughter and joy! We are planning to do one quick reshoot tonight to fix a problem in the climactic scene at Shaking Rock Park. Of course, due to the magic of film, we'll actually be doing the reshoot in the back yard. Nice, huh?
April 6, 2004 Last night, the first cut of wowgirl was completed. It clocks in at 101 minutes without credits. That might even a little long when all is said and done - we'll have to see. It's amazing and incredible and emotional to watch. We're still not quite there yet, but a major hurdle to completion has been crossed. I'm using this as a good point to restart the news section. Everything from before hasn't been updated in over a year, so we'll just restart it now. Some incredible things are going to be happening in the next few months.
